Underworld Bailiffs
Messengers, escorts, and patrols of the unseen offices.
A group rather than one deity
Guicha is a general name for the underworld's attendants: messengers, patrol officers, escorts, and warders. They carry out orders attributed to City Gods, judges, or the kings of the dead. Their offices mirror the bailiffs and runners of human administration. Chains, documents, tall hats, and official clothing make their role legible in stories and temple processions.
Familiar names, uncertain rosters
White and Black Impermanence, Ox-Head, and Horse-Face are often included among these escorts. Day and Night Patrol spirits appear in other settings as well, including service to heavenly authority in fiction. Modern summaries frequently arrange several figures into Ten Underworld Commanders, adding animal-soul specialists. No single early roster governs all those lists. The atlas treats such combinations as later popular organization, while preserving the distinction between a broadly attested attendant type and an individual deity.
