The final court

King Zhuanlun completes the ten-court sequence in this atlas. Popular accounts give him responsibility for reviewing souls sent from the other courts and directing their onward birth. Registers and routes turn the transition into an administrative process recognizable from human government. His title evokes a turning wheel.

From judgment to rebirth

In Yuli Baochao and related folklore, Granny Meng's forgetting soup prepares souls to leave former memories behind. The familiar combined scene links the courtroom system to the six realms. Buddhist teachings explain rebirth through karma, however, rather than simply an official signing a destination permit. The king, the soup, and a physical wheel belong to particular narrative and visual ways of expressing that transition. Their placement and procedures vary by text and locality. They are best read alongside the separate entries on Granny Meng and the Six Realms.
